Welcome to Genesis Proclaimed Association

Essentially we live in two different worlds, the spiritual and the physical. The spiritual world is revealed through the Holy Bible and the Holy Spirit. Science defines our physical world, while history provides a chronology of events. Tensions arise and conflicts occur when these worlds appear to collide.

It is our purpose to ease perceived tensions and resolve apparent conflicts. We may lack perfect knowledge, but we believe enough is known today that at least some of the creation-evolution controversy can be put to rest.   And this can be done taking a high view of Scripture, abiding by the latest findings of modern science, with the aid of ancient history.

this fascinating new book
God’s revealed Word in the Bible is called special revelation. Today we have numerous translations.  We are awash in commentaries.  If we can cut through the clamor, we can learn the specific things of God from His Word we could not know from observing nature alone.  Illumination or understanding may be aided by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

General revelation is what we observe in nature.  Anyone can see it, examine it, feel it, experience it, or test it.  The natural world around us should give us at least an inkling of the character of our Creator.  Through science, we try to unravel the mysteries of His general revelation.  We have nothing to fear in seeking the truth in nature.  Our Creator allows us to make our own observations, and honest reporting on our part is all that is expected.

At this juncture, no scientist has presented even a token amount of credible evidence that a universe can spring into existence unassisted; or that life can come about spontaneously from a chemical soup; or that a DNA molecule, the genetic code of life, can become increasingly complex through time entirely by accident.

We shun the idea, however, that the Creator must impose upon nature, and continually tweak the process to bring about desired results. Invoking sporadic acts of divine intervention to enable speciation, or to bring about novel, adaptive features in organisms is without foundation.

Still, special revelation and general revelation should match up since God is the author of both the Book of Words, and the book of works.  If the revelations of the Bible appear to contradict the revelations of science, we believe it is due to error that has crept in someplace.  A large part of the unnecessary tension that seems to exist between science and the Bible today has been caused by outdated interpretation.

Although we are living today in the 21st century, some traditional Bible “truths” being taught from pulpits and in seminaries today are stuck hopelessly in the 17th century.  It is past time to free up our living Bible to be completely relevant to future generations.

We are not trapped on a flat, geocentric earth by an inflexible, outdated book.  The inspired text is adaptable whether we are or not.  For example, we live on a planet scientists date to about 4.6 billion years, and the Bible will concord with that. Notwithstanding, there are some who reckon our habitat was created instantly no earlier than 10,000 years ago.

Biologists believe the fossil record expresses a sequence of life forms that evolved through time. Meanwhile, some have ventured that a world-wide catastrophic flood sequenced the dead animals, burying the simplest creatures first, thereby leaving a contrived data trail with increasing complexity merely a happenstance caused by some mystical sorting action.

Archaeologists have traced hominids back beyond four million years. We may not know who the first anthropoid to walk on two legs was, but with a high degree of certainty we can rule out Adam of Genesis who lived in Neolithic times as attested to by the Bible itself.

Adam and Eve, the garden of Eden, Noah and the flood, and the incident at the tower of Babel all appear to have been actual historical persons, places, and events that can be placed in a time frame and in a historical setting - in southern Mesopotamia from about 7,000 years ago to about 4,000 years ago, in the land of the Tigris and Euphrates, present-day Iraq.

The ancient history of Mesopotamia written by Sumerian and Accadian scribes hundreds of years before Genesis was written afford us a cultural and historical backdrop from which we can clarify previously misunderstood passages of Genesis.

Scripture is not mired in the tar pits of obsolete dogma. We now have the tools to make perfectly coherent conclusions about descriptions and events in Genesis which are entirely compatible with the latest revelations of modern science – aided by historical evidence.

This web site presents the relevant biblical, scientific, and historical evidence, examines the controversies, and offers solid, data-driven solutions.

Please come and join us if you value honest evidence, interesting facts, and yes, even the truth, whether it comes from Bible, science, or history. We don't care what you believe now, just be prepared for an experience that will anchor your beliefs, challenge your prejudices, or change your mind.
